RALEIGH, N.C. – Seventy-five Campbell Law students successfully completed 82 different externships throughout the 2016 summer. Second and third-year students took advantage of the opportunity to achieve meaningful educational experiences in the public-service environment, including nonprofit organizations, public organizations, law firms and with corporate counsel, at 61 different sites.
“Campbell Law’s externship program offers students the opportunity to earn real-world experience under the guidance of skilled attorneys and Campbell Law faculty,“ said program director Allegra Collins. “This real-world experience provides context for students’ academic training and helps prepare them to be practice-ready upon graduation.“
Recently retired Campbell Law Professor Margaret Currin single-handedly built the program over the course of many years. Collins assumed leadership of the program upon Currin’s retirement with the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year. The National Jurist ranked Campbell Law’s program 27th nationally in September 2013, and 85 percent of recent graduates completed one or more externships as a part of the institution’s signature program.
