Campbell Law to welcome noted artist Rankin for talk, reception

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law School will host prominent Raleigh-based artist Bob Rankin for an artist’s talk and reception on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m. in the law school’s Pope Foyer. Twenty-three works of art by Rankin have adorned the first floor walls of the law school since August and will do so for the remainder of the 2016-17 academic year. Many of the pieces were commissioned exclusively for the law school.

“Bob is a local institution and a brilliant artist,” said Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. “The art is phenomenal and it really adds to our vibrant law school community. I think our students and the many alumni that return home will enjoy it immensely over the course of the next year.”

Rankin’s work replaces a series by Thomas H. Sayre which was on display during 2015-16.

A longtime Raleigh resident and art teacher at Sanderson High School, Rankin is a graduate of the art school at East Carolina University and the school of design at NC State University. He has studied art and history with the American Institute of Foreign Study in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Florence, Venice and Athens. His work has been featured throughout the United States and abroad, and is on display locally at numerous sites including IBM, SAS Institute and Bank of America.
