Campbell Law, Univ. of Reading to offer advanced certificate in International Business Law

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law School and the University of Reading have formed a collaborative partnership to award students an Advanced Certificate in International Business Law, as announced by Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. The partnership allows law school students to earn a widely-recognized international credential through courses taken exclusively at Campbell Law’s downtown Raleigh campus.

Advanced certificates will be awarded by the University of Reading Centre for Commercial Law & Financial Regulations. Participation in the program costs $900.

“While preparing for my deanship I met with several of the area’s leading legal professionals in search of the types of credentials that employers think are valuable for today’s law school graduate,” said Leonard. “Any number of those conversations suggested equipping students with a familiarity with business law at an international level. This agreement with the University of Reading is our first step in that direction.”

The program includes two mandatory classes and nine credit hours of electives. The mandatory classes include Advanced Negotiation and Analysis and International Business Law. Elective course options include Business Organizations, Civil Procedure, Commercial Law (Sales & Leasing), Commercial Paper (Secured Transactions) Commercial Paper (Payment Systems), Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property, International Business Litigation & Arbitration, International Business Transactions, International Trade Law, Mediation and National Security Law.

Campbell Law Associate Professor of Law Dr. Kevin Lee will co-teach International Business Law alongside Peter Romary, who will also teach Advanced Negotiation & Analysis. All elective courses will be taught by Campbell Law full-time and adjunct faculty members.

A multidimensional legal scholar and teacher with advanced degrees in Christian ethics, religious studies, and philosophy, Dr. Lee couples his long-standing interest in the phenomenon of human religiousness with an interest in international trade law and the emerging networked, globalized society.

Romary is an attorney, arbitrator, mediator, diplomat and internationally recognized expert and trainer in the areas of risk management, threat assessment and management, conflict resolution and litigation risk management. He holds both American and English law degrees.
