Campbell Law Virtual Career Night and Externship Expo set for Nov. 3

RALEIGH — Campbell Law School’s Career and Professional Development Center will host a virtual Career Night and Externship Expo  from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021.

Using the virtual platform FloRecruit, law students will have the chance to speak with employers about their chosen field and externship positions in a variety of breakout rooms.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Steven Walker, a partner with Walker Kiger PLLC in Garner. Walker has practiced law since 2005 and has represented clients at the highest levels of government. He has served as the Chief of Staff and General Counsel to the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina as well as as a Senior Research Assistant (law clerk) in the chambers of Associate Justice Edward Thomas Brady of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

Walker will speak on the value of networking and gaining practical experience. He has supervised externships for a number of years and received consistently excellent feedback from students. Following the speech, students will have the opportunity to hear from employers about their experiences, the practice of law and internships/externships available within companies.

“This is a chance for active members of the legal community to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of lawyers,” explained Director of Externships Niya Fonville.

Employers interested in participating in the event should  RSVP by Monday, Oct. 18.
