Campbell Law, WCBA to Host “People’s Law School” Event

RALEIGH, N.C. –Campbell Law School and the Wake County Bar Association (WCBA) will partner to host an informative and free legal information session at the law school on Saturday, Jan. 19. Open to the general public, “People’s Law School” will consist of three one-hour sessions on a variety of legal topics. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with sessions running from 9 a.m. until noon. Parking will be available at the City of Raleigh Municipal Parking Deck across from the law school on West Morgan Street.

“Campbell Law is excited to host this event in collaboration with the Wake County Bar Association,” said Campbell Law Interim Dean Keith Faulkner. “We view the practice of law as a calling to serve others, and we are fortunate that our strong relationship with the WCBA allows us to work together in an effort to inform our neighbors in the community.”

Discussion topics will include bankruptcy, custody and child support, estate planning, landlord and tenant issues, traffic court, and a general “understanding the legal system” unit. There is also a unit that features the Advocates for Children’s Services’ Push Out Prevention Project (POPP), which is working to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline in Wake County. Each session will be led by a member of the WCBA.

“Serving the public is part of the WCBA’s mission, and we feel that this is a great way to bring important information to members of the community,” said WCBA Executive Director Whitney D. G. von Haam. “Our partnership with Campbell Law is one that continues to encourage great interaction between lawyers, students and the public.”
