Campbell MBA student wins inaugural EO Veterans Business Battle

BUIES CREEK — Campbell Business MBA student Steven Walther won the inaugural EO Veterans Business Battle at Rice University in Houston, Texas on Saturday, Feb. 28. One of just 15 national participants, Walther’s reimagined toothbrush project took the top prize.
Walther, a local inventor and entrepreneur, is also a combat veteran and Green Beret.
“I am honored to have won the EO Veterans Business Battle,” said Walther. “I hope that my participation will result in further exposure to the great things being done at Campbell Business School.”
As the winner of the competition, Walther will receive offers for equity investment from agencies and individuals that Entrepreneurs Organization-Houston partnered with for the competition. Those agencies include the Mercury Fund, the Houston Angel Network, Goose Society of Texas and other qualified investors.
“We are all beyond proud of Steven,” said Campbell Business Dean Keith Faulkner. “I have no doubt that his success at this competition, coupled with his Campbell Business education, will serve as a springboard for sustained excellence as an entrepreneur.”
The EO Veterans Business Battle is geared towards potential entrepreneurs who: have an idea but have not yet launched it, have just begun working on their idea, and/or are seeking capital/venture capitalists. The competition is the first of its kind exclusively open to military veterans.
In addition to the competition, Walther is currently working to earn a small business grant for FedEx for his reimagined toothbrush project. You can support him by voting in http://smallbusinessgrant.fedex.com/Gallery/Detail/eacdd6a8-7a00-4ab6-9724-e0138eb75768″>an online poll.
