Raleigh — When the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law welcomes students to Raleigh in September of 2009, it will also welcome a new era for Campbell University’s distinguished law program.
Law school officials offered a guided tour Wednesday, Feb. 18 of its new 109,000 sq. ft. facility in downtown Raleigh. City leaders like Raleigh mayor Charles Meeker donned hard hats for a tour of the facility. The former office building at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Dawson Street is being completely renovated to accommodate the needs of a growing and vibrant law school.
The new facility will offer over 40 percent more space than the law school’s current accommodations in Buies Creek. The building will house 13 state-of-the-art classrooms, a 200 seat auditorium, three courtrooms, a 25,000 square foot law library on two floors, an attorney resource room, a commons area for law students, 32 faculty offices and 200 on-site parking spaces. Students and faculty will also have access to a coffee shop and café, as well as individual and group study areas. All classrooms will feature the latest in instructional and learning technology.
“This is a magnificently designed building and I think you’ll find that, upon completion, it will be a beautiful finished product and a terrific learning atmosphere for our students,” said Melissa Essary, dean of the law school.
