Campbell presents Academy Award-winning documentary on U.S. financial crisis

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University’s Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics, will show the Academy Award-winning documentary “Inside Job,” the first film to expose the truth behind the economic meltdown of 2008. The film will be shown at 6 p.m., Monday, April 18, in Lynch Auditorium of the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business and will be followed by a brief commentary and question and answer period conducted by David Butler, assistant professor of business and former bank examiner, and Dr. Mark Steckbeck, assistant professor of economics. Admission is free and open to the community.

Winner of the 2011 Academy Award for best documentary, “Inside Job” was produced by Charles Ferguson (“No End in Sight”) and is a comprehensive analysis of the events leading up to the global financial crisis, which ended up costing the U.S. $20 trillion and resulted in millions of people losing their homes and their jobs. Through extensive research and interviews with major financial insiders, politician and journalists, “Inside Job” traces the rise of a rogue financial industry which impacted politics, regulation and academia. The documentary was filmed on location in the United States, Iceland, England, France, Singapore and China.
