Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University has again been named one of U.S. News & World Report’s best universities in the South. Campbell was ranked among 87 schools in the First Tier Regional Universities (South) category.
There are 572 universities in the “Best Regional Universities” category, including schools in the North, South, Midwest and West. Regional Universities are institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs, but few doctoral programs. Of the universities surveyed, 318 are private.
Each school’s ranking within its group of peer institutions is based on the same set of 15 quality measures, including peer assessment, average freshman retention rate, class size, full-time faculty, SAT scores, acceptance and graduation rates. To be included in the rankings, a college must be regionally accredited and have a total enrollment of at least 200 students. Much of the data used to calculate the ranking is reported directly from university surveys.
