Buies Creek, N.C.-Campbell University has received a grant in the amount of $140,000 from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, Inc. The grant will be used to fund general scholarships during the 2009-2010 academic year.
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation was established in 1946 by Conkey Pate Whitehead as a memorial to his mother. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to provide need-based scholarships to Christian women who are residents of certain southeastern states which include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia.
“We are grateful to the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation for this generous grant,” said Dr. Jerry M. Wallace, president of Campbell University. “There is no nobler purpose than to provide a Christian higher education to worthy young men and women who, without such generosity, might not otherwise be able to afford one.”
