Campbell receives grant from Sullivan Foundation

Campbell University has received a grant of $23,500 from the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation to aid students with financial need who have demonstrated a commitment to service above self and service to the community. Additionally, the Foundation has made a grant of $6,500 to the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Endowment at Campbell. This endowment was established in 1998 to provide support in perpetuity for Sullivan Scholars at Campbell University. The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, now located in Oxford, Miss., was chartered in New York in 1934. Its purpose is to promote service to others and to the broader community and the values exemplified by Algernon and Mary Mildred Sullivan, the parents of the organization’s founder. In addition to providing financial aid support to small private colleges located primarily in the Appalachian region, the Sullivan Foundation collaborates with 53 Southeastern colleges and universities in presenting awards honoring the memory of Algernon and Mary Mildred Sullivan. These awards are presented each year to a graduating senior and to a non-student member of the college community who exemplify exceptional qualities of service. Founded in 1887, Campbell University is North Carolina’s second largest private institution of higher education and the second largest Baptist university in the world. Located in Buies Creek, NC, just east of the center of the state, Campbell combines academic excellence and Christian commitment.
