Buies Creek, N.C.-A total of 87 Campbell University staff and faculty members were recognized for their service at an awards ceremony on Thursday, August 13 in Turner Auditorium. The ceremony is part of the annual Faculty and Staff Orientation event which signals the beginning of the academic year at Campbell.
President Jerry M. Wallace thanked the honorees for their contributions to the University.
“I look out into the audience and see friends I’ve worked with for over 40 years and hear new names mentioned,” he said. “We share the pride that goes with being associated with a place of great conviction and great tradition and sense the special mission, opportunities and responsibilities of this place.”
Every employee plays a necessary role in a student’s success, Wallace added.
“Every lawn that is mowed, every class that is taught is vital to our mission to educate and graduate students for Christian service throughout the world,” he said.
Employees were recognized for increments of service from five to 40 years.
Those celebrating the longest association with Campbell are Dr. Gary Taylor and Elaine Smith. Taylor serves as chair of the Psychology Department in the School of Education and Smith is an administrative assistant to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
