Four religion majors recently represented Campbell in a National Ethics Bowl Competition in San Antonio, Texas. The event took place Thursday Feb. 21 and involved 32 teams from the U.S. and Canada. Campbell qualified for the national competition by placing third at a regional event in November. For the national competition, teams were given 15 case studies to prepare and debate against other teams before a panel of judges. Elizabeth Austin, Ryan Fitzgerald, Jason Horrell and Brandon White researched for over a month preparing legal, philosophical and social positions. Adam English and Ken Vandergriff, the two coaches from the Department of Religion, were both very proud of the students’ performance, especially since this was the first year Campbell had participated in the Ethics Bowl. Clemson University ultimately won first place.
