Campbell serves the Community during Operation Inasmuch

Every April, Campbell University students, faculty and staff roll up their sleeves and are ready to get dirty for the community. The fourth annual Operation Inasmuch (OIAM) will be held on April 16 from 8:00 a.m.- 4 p.m.

OIAM is a day in which participants go into the community and serve others through various service and ministry projects. The ministry is based on Matthew 25 in which Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.”

“It is important for all of us to engage in the community in which we live—as responsible citizens and servants of others,” said Faithe Beam, campus minister. “Operation Inasmuch allows students to become aware of the needs around them.  We have had students who participated in OIAM who continue to volunteer and serve at various organizations, agencies and churches because of the experience they had that day.”

Many projects from previous years spill into this year including the community garden, sorting clothing in thrift stores, visiting seniors at the nursing home and various park cleanups.

This year a few new projects have been added to the roster. Students will get a chance to help build a house through Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County. The students will also get a chance to buddy up with an elementary school student in a one mile “fun run” through the after- school program Kids on the Run. The club meets one day a week after school, but as a year- end celebration the children will be able to come to campus to run and celebrate with a party.

“We have OIAM every year for a number of reasons:  it helps invigorate our campus and serves as a unifying opportunity for our students, faculty and staff,” said Beam. “Operation Inasmuch also allows us to deepen our relationships with individuals, organizations, and other ministries in our greater community.  It is a tangible way for us to live out God’s call to love and serve others.”

Participants will meet at the Academic Circle in front of D. Rich, pray and head out to work on their projects. Lunch will be provided. Please register at https://cuweb.wufoo.com/forms/operation-inasmuch-registration/
