Buies Creek, N.C. – In addition to teaching and holding positions on numerous boards, Dr. Constantine G. Kledaras, professor and Chair of the Department of Social Work, is featured in the 2010 publication “Career Reflections of Social Work Educators.”
Written by Dr. Spenser Ziegler and published by Lyceum Books, the 240-page book, drawn from in-depth interviews with 65 social work educators from around the United States, explores issues facing instructors in the field.
Having known Ziegler for some time, Kledaras was elated about his selection for inclusion.
“My first thought was, ‘How nice!'” said Kledaras. “It’s an honor that someone felt you were worthy to be included – being recognized distinguishes you.”
Acknowledged for his contributions to the social work field, in both social practice and academia, Kledaras provides insight into his own experiences on a variety of topics, including inspiration, mentorship, social work standards for accreditation and the best practices in the field.
The National Association of Social Workers honored Kledaras in 2008, naming him a “pioneer” in the field of Social Work and inducting him into the Pioneer Hall of Fame for his achievements in the field. The prestigious program honors esteemed members of the profession who have been influential with their important contributions to health and mental health.
In addition to recognizing his achievements, “Career Reflections of Social Educators” has also made Kledaras a bit of a celebrity in the discipline. At the annual conference for The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors in Atlanta, Ga., Kledaras notes around ten people asked him to autograph a copy of the book.
“Career Reflections of Social Work Educators” is available for purchase through Lyceum Books.
