Campbell University sophomore Caroline Scott’s family was named Family of the Year during the 2009 Homecoming football game after she wrote an essay nominating them.
Caroline’s earliest memories of Campbell start at age 8. Each school year beginning in elementary school, she would spend her entire spring break in Buies Creek with her older sister Mary Beth.
“I would look forward to this trip as soon as the school year began,” said Caroline. “I began cheering on the Camels at athletic events and attending concerts, plays and many other University functions at this early age. This annual trip led me to make my college decision at an early age.”
Caroline has had numerous relatives receive degrees from Campbell at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. She is currently a pre-pharmacy major. Her parents are Neil and Gay Scott who live in Fair Bluff, N.C.
“My parents’ love, support and guidance have enabled my sister and me to achieve many goals throughout the course of our lives,” said Caroline. “Although Mary Beth has already reached her lifelong goal of becoming a pharmacist, my family encourages me each and every day to do my best and take full advantage of all that Campbell has to offer in hopes that someday I will achieve this same goal.”
Aside from providing moral support, her family has supported the University in numerous ways as well. They have attended athletic events, concerts, plays, white coat ceremonies, baccalaureate services and graduations now for over a decade.
“I can honestly say this University holds a special place in all of our hearts,” she said. “Its focus on providing an atmosphere which will promote the development of one’s Christian faith as well as the highest level of academic achievement, in our family’s opinion, produces graduates whose values mirror those of our own. We believe these morals and values instilled in a student at Campbell are vital for one to succeed in all areas of life. I feel that I can speak for my entire family when saying we truly value the quality education and college experience Campbell University provides.”
