Campbell student opens dance studio

With hit shows such as “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” it’s no surprise people want to learn to dance. This is good news for Campbell University junior David Geiger who opened a dance studio in Angier in February.

“I was hesitant about opening a business at first, but everything has fallen into place,” said Geiger. “From the beginning it’s been a family and God thing.”

Geiger is a full-time music major and business minor, but manages to balance his school work and owning a business.

“It’s extremely difficult balancing school and dance,” he said. “I’ve managed to schedule my classes to fit around my dance schedule.”

Luckily, he also has the help of his fiancé Emily Coates, who is a junior, history major at Campbell. She is the manager of the studio and also teaches a few classes.

Grace Ballroom is a state- of- the- art dance studio where all style of dances are taught, including Swing, Tango, Waltz, Fox Trot, Salsa, Rumba and Cha-Cha. Geiger enjoys dancing all styles, but his favorites include the Waltz and Cha-Cha.

“People think the Waltz is boring, but it is really a lot of work,” he said. “The Cha-Cha has a lot of opportunity for movement.”
