Campbell student redesigns Harnett County Partnership for Children logo

Campbell University Senior, Anna Johnson, redesigned the Harnett County Partnership for Children (HCPC) logo. It was part of an assignment given by Professor Danny Rodgers to his Graphic Design II summer class. Out of five students, Johnson’s logo was chosen to be used for HCPC.Johnson, a graphic design major, was excited about the project.“The assignment was challenging because it required us to use our creative abilities while incorporating specific elements,” she said. “I am grateful for the real world experience I gained from the project.” HCPC is a non-profit organization with the mission to improve the quality of life for young children and families in Harnett County, through community based programs focusing on health, education and family support. The Harnett County Partnership for Children administers Smart Start funds provided by the North Carolina General Assembly and private donations to support programs that benefit children up to the age of five.Lauren Strickland, Outreach Coordinator for HCPC, was impressed by the students’ work.“All the students did an incredible job with the visual identity package for HCPC. The students really paid attention to what the Partnership was looking for, and it was evident in their artwork,” said Strickland. Johnson said she gained inspiration for her logo while driving.“I was in the car and saw the bike lane,” she said. “I liked the block figures. That night, I grabbed my sketch book and began to work. I was able to use the shape of the county as the little girl’s dress.”“HCPC chose Anna’s design because it was everything we were looking for,” said Strickland. “The logo needed to support our mission and also to be professional.”Photo Copy:  From left, Lauren Strickland, Outreach Coordinator for HCPC, and Campbell University student Anna Johnson
