Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell will hold its second annual Homeschool Visitation Day on Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Campbell University Admissions Counselor and homeschool Specialist Dori Staehle said this special event explains college preparation, the application process and what to expect when a student comes to Campbell.
“Homeschooling families have different needs and expectations when it comes to visiting colleges,” said Staehle, who was a homeschooling parent herself. “We want homeschooling families to realize that we understand this and therefore created a special visitation day just for them.”
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, followed by a Campbell Welcome ceremony in Scott Concert Hall presented by Dr. John Roberson, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, and Jason Hall, Assistant Vice President for Admissions. Dr. Adam English, assistant professor of religion will also be on hand to explain Campbell University’s Christian mission. Staehle follows English’s presentation with a briefing on ways in which the students can prepare for college.
An opportunity to meet and greet Campbell students who were also homeschooledwill take place during the break, from 10:15-10:45 a.m. Then Dr. Donna Waldron, assistant professor of English, director of Campbell’s Study Abroad program and member of the Honors Program Committee, will discuss the enrichment and academic opportunities the programs have to offer. Tours of the campus and a cafeteria lunch complete the visitation day activities.
“Homeschoolers tend to be very bright, motivated, mature and have a love of learning,” said Staehle, whose children are currently Campbell seniors. “We want them to know that we understand and respect the commitment and dedication that homeschooling represents.”
