Campbell to host North Carolina Intramural Flag Football Tournament

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University has been selected by the North Carolina Intramural and Recreational Sports Association to host the 2008-2009 North Carolina Intramural Flag Football Tournament Oct. 24-26.  Campbell was one of three institutions to submit a bid for the event.

The 2007 tournament hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte was a spirited competition of 18 teams from within the state and Campbell is expecting the same level of participation and excitement this year, said Andy Shell, director of Campus Recreation for Campbell.

A total of 18 teams are expected to compete in 26 games at the event. The tournament will be governed by the National Intramural and Recreation Sports Association rules. Among the competitors are the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, N.C. State University, Shaw University, North Carolina A&T, Louisburg College, St. Augustine College, Brevard College, Sandhills Community College and Johnson and Wales University. This year, Campbell will also offer a women’s division.

“A great deal of hard work has been put into this by every member of our staff in the past few months to make this tournament a reality,” said Shell. “The Campbell University Department of Recreation is proud to be hosting this event.”
