Campbell to offer Pastor’s School

Buies Creek — Campbell University’s Campus Minister’s Office and the Campbell Divinity School will host the Pastor’s School Oct.1-3, 2007. The Pastor’s School is a conference designed for pastors and ministers of area churches. According to Dr. Michael Cogdill, dean of the Campbell Divinity School, the Pastor’s School is an outstanding opportunity for continuing theological and professional training.”The school brings to the participants great exposure to leading theologians and contemporary church leaders. Participants will receive inspiration, renewal and spiritual strength from being a part of the lectures and fellowship,” said Cogdill. “Minds will be stretched and hearts will be blessed. The faculty and topics for this year are superb with the added blessings of rich fellowship and enjoyment.” Guest speakers include Dr. Samuel Balentine, a professor of Old Testament at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va., and Dr. Walter “Buddy” Shurden, professor of Christianity at Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga.In the past, the program was a week-long retreat for attendees. This year, it will follow a continuing education model, spanning activities over three days. Campus Minister Faithe Beam said she hopes the shorter schedule will encourage more people to participate.”Ministers are so busy and caught up in the needs of their church, it is hard to find the time to get away for their own personal edification,” she said. “Now, they don’t have to block off an entire week to be here on campus. We hope that it will be enticing to those folks who live in the local area.”In addition to the lectures and Bible studies, participants are encouraged to enjoy some recreation activities while in Buies Creek, including the Keith Hills Golf Course.A program registration fee of $60 will be charged per applicant to the Pastor’s School.
