Campbell to offer softball clinic to public

Buies Creek – Campbell University will offer a winter softball clinic for girls in the local community. The clinic, open to girls ages 8-17, will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Willard Harris hitting facility on the Buies Creek campus. The event will consist of three sessions: a position clinic, hitting clinic and pitching clinic, grouped by age. Participants can take part in one, two or all three sessions. Girls will get the chance to meet the Campbell players and learn new skills from the college team.Head coach Drew Peterson said clinics are not only a good way for his team to serve the community, but collegiate players can also improve their own skills on the field.”It makes them better players,” said Peterson. “They have to think about the process of the game and gain a better understanding of the game themselves.”For many of the camp participants, these clinics are a good glimpse into life as a Fighting Camel. This year, four of the players on the Campbell team roster were previous clinic participants. To register, go to www.gocamels.com . Click on “Online Store” and “Athletic Camps”.
