BUIES CREEK — The Campbell University Choir will present its fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. in the Butler Chapel. The concert, which is open to the public, will include a variety of choral pieces — both sacred and secular — for an eclectic presentation.
Members of the choir include music majors, music minors and students pursuing other majors but who have significant choral experience. The commonalities in the group include a love for singing and the desire to make music on a high level.
Several genres are represented in the hour-long program. Mostly, the music is from the 20th and 21st centuries, but a portion of the Mozart Requiem is programmed, as well as a couple of settings of 19th-century folk hymnody. Much of the program is a cappella, but some selections will feature piano accompaniment, including a setting for piano four-hands. A Native-American piece features recorder and percussion.
The Campbell Voices, the music department’s vocal chamber ensemble, will also perform a few lighter selections.
Phillip Morrow, associate professor of music at Campbell, urges the community to come. “It’s usually a wonderful concert-spring and fall. It will be time well-spent.” He expects the concert to last about an hour.
