Operation Inasmuch first came to campus three years ago with 300 Campbell University students, faculty and staff wanting to make a difference in their community. Last year, over 500 people participated. This year, who knows how many people will be involved?
Campbell University is hosting Operation Inasmuch on April 17, 2010. Operation Inasmuch is a day in which participants go into the community and serve others through various service and ministry projects. The ministry is based on Matthew 25 in which Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.”
“Operation Inasmuch will be a bit different this year as we focus on fewer but larger ministry projects,” said Faithe Beam, campus minister. “We hope to utilize more students at various locations to have a greater reach in our area and build on some of the community partnerships we have been nurturing the past few years. One new project will include a community garden in which the Campbell University community and surrounding community come together in an effort to meet the needs of those in our area that do not have enough to eat. We hope the garden will be an ongoing ministry.”
Participants will meet at the Academic Circle in front of D. Rich, pray and head out to work on their projects. Lunch will be provided.
“Operation Inasmuch is an effort that allows the University community to come together for the purpose of fulfilling Jesus’ charge to love God and love people,” said Beam. “It is a truly meaningful experience when students, faculty, staff and administrators can roll up their sleeves and serve alongside one another.”
