Campbell University named Military Friendly School

BUIES CREEK — For the second year in a row, Victory Media has named Campbell University to its coveted Military Friendly Schools® list, which honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the United States that are doing the most to embrace U.S. military service members, veterans and spouses and ensure their success on campus.

Now in its sixth year, the list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide that are approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. The 1,600 schools named to the list, including Campbell, will be featured in the 2015 “G.I. Jobs Guide to Military Friendly Schools” and other Victory Media publications.

“Campbell University personnel truly enjoy working with our veterans and their family members to ensure they receive a quality education with as little debt as possible, no matter which campus they attend,” said Joy Cox, Campbell’s director of veteran affairs. “We enjoy our military-friendly reputation and the word of mouth referrals we get for admissions.”

First named a Military Friendly School® last year, Campbell enrolls more than 800 students who receive veteran benefits.

Campbell offers educational programs for military personnel and veterans on its main campus in Buies Creek, through its online programs, and on extended campuses at Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force and the Research Triangle Park. These programs provide flexibility to military professionals who are deployed or stationed overseas and their spouses.

Each campus has a VA certifying official who serves as a liaison between veteran students and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Several offices across the university also work together to assist military personnel and veterans, and a Student Veteran’s Club supports students with military ties.

In addition, the university is a member of the Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows it to help fund tuition and fee expenses for veterans. Campbell also provides tuition assistance and scholarships to veterans and to active duty, National Guard, and Reserve personnel.
