Campbell University recognized for yearbook excellence

The Campbell University yearbook staff was recently recognized by Taylor Publishing with an Award of Excellence honoring its accomplishments in yearbook design and coverage. The Campbell University yearbook was selected among the best and is featured in the 2006 “Yearbook Yearbook.” “The Pine Burr went from a black –and –white annual to a full-color magazine-style gem,” said Michael Ray Smith, chair of the Department of Mass Communication. “Adviser Rebecca Wheeler and Editor Jeanna Hastie created a breezy promotional piece that serves the university’s public relations missions and flatters the organization. Our public relations team is pleased with this award-winning effort of the staff and the recognition of Taylor Publishing.” Yearbooks published by Taylor for the 2005 school year were evaluated in various areas: cover design, theme development and layout design. Taylor publishing recognizes only the top five percent of yearbook staffs for outstanding yearbook achievement. “The Award of Excellence is given each year to a small percentage of yearbook staffs nationwide that demonstrate excellence in yearbook,” Marketing manager Mike Taylor said. “We applaud these staffs for their outstanding work and support their efforts in scholastic journalism.
