Campbell University students pull together to help Union University

Buies Creek, N.C.–Students at Campbell University have launched a campaign to aid Union University in Jackson, Tenn., after devastating tornadoes ripped through the area on Tuesday, Feb. 6. A Christian University with programming taught within a Christian context, Union is considered a sister university to Campbell.The storms destroyed nearly 80 percent of Union dormitories and the school sustained approximately $40 million in damages, according to Union President David Dockery. There were no fatalities reported, but many students lost all of their belongings.”Many of our students, faculty and staff have inquired about how we can help Union University,” said Campbell Campus Minister Faithe Beam. Union officials have encouraged support to the relief efforts by providing gift cards to Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe’s or Home Depot. These cards will be given to students to help them replace lost items.”Campbell students are also encouraged to make a monetary donation to the relief effort. The cards and donations will be collected by the Campus Minister’s Office and forwarded to Union.”As a community rooted in Christian values, we are challenged by the words of Christ to love God and love neighbor,” said Beam, to help our friends at Union University is to live out this greatest commandment.”
