Campbell University to hold winter graduation exercises

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University will hold its winter graduation exercises on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 9 a.m. in the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. A total of 395 undergraduate, 83 graduate and 10 professional degrees are expected to be conferred.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield, dean of the Campbell Divinity School, will deliver the commencement address. The son of missionaries, Wakefield grew up in Southeast Asia. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Wakefield continued his theological studies at Duke University, where he received a Ph.D. in New Testament. A Divinity School faculty member since 1997, Wakefield holds the Tyner Chair of Bible and was installed as the second dean of the Divinity School on Sept. 14, 2010.

The J.A. Campbell Meritorious Service Award will also be presented during graduation exercises. Named for Campbell founder James Archibald Campbell, the award honors alumni whose lives reflect President Campbell’s uncompromising moral values and Christian beliefs.

 

This marks the third winter graduation ceremony held in the Pope Convocation Center.
