Campbell wins Silver at Raleigh Public Relations Society awards

Buies Creek, N.C.-Campbell University’s 2007-2008 University Report, “We Are Campbell,” received a Silver award at the annual Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) awards competition on Tuesday, June 16. The “University Report” was recognized for excellence in the three-color Annual Report category.

The Raleigh Public Relations Society is made up of professionals from all areas of communication, including government, non-profit organizations, corporations, educational institutions and private communication and design firms. In addition to monthly meetings, RPRS sponsors the annual awards competition and other programs that offer a variety of professional development opportunities.

Assistant Director of Publications Shannon Ryals accepted Campbell’s award. Ryals is the editor of the “University Report” and two other Campbell publications – “Campbell University Magazine” and “Accolades,” a chronicle of scholarly achievement.

The objective of the “University Report’s” “We Are Campbell” theme was to present a complete picture of the 2007-2008 year at Campbell, Ryals said.

“We used snapshots of the university involved in community efforts, campus ministry, student life, campus expansion and a variety of other events to instill in our audience what Campbell represents,” she said. “We have a great team that works together to make sure the end product is the best it can be. There is a lot of hard work that goes into each publication and the 2007-2008 University Report is a good example of this.”

A graduate of Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn., Ryals received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication in 2004. Prior to coming to Campbell, she was employed at “Lawyers’ Weekly” in Raleigh, N.C.
