Campbell’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program receives accreditation

BUIES CREEK, North Carolina — The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program has received official accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

“We are very excited about the accreditation and what it means for our program,” said Michael L. Adams, PharmD, PhD, dean of the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. “This accreditation allows our DPT graduates to take the National Physical Therapy Exam in order to obtain their licensure. It also allows our DPT program to join the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT), an organization that impacts policy and the future of the physical therapy profession.”

Greg Dedrick, PT, ScD, director of the DPT program and associate professor of health studies, said, “I’m proud of our faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly during the last three years in developing a unique program designed to improve healthcare in rural communities. We are committed to interprofessional education and the mission of Campbell University in preparing graduates for the challenges of modern healthcare delivery.”

The inaugural DPT class of 36 students will graduate on Dec. 17.
