Buies Creek, N.C.—Dr. Tony Cartledge, associate professor of Old Testament, received the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award from the Campbell University Divinity School. “Dr. Cartledge has excelled in his work as a scholar in Old Testament studies at the Divinity School and as a valuable member of the Divinity School faculty,” said Dr. Andrew Wakefield, dean of the Campbell Divinity School. “His in-depth knowledge of the Old Testament, his years of preaching in the local church, and his skill in writing have greatly enhanced the learning opportunities for our students.”

A Divinity School faculty member since 2007, Cartledge is the author of many books and numerous articles, including a two-volume commentary on the Gospels of Samuel, Books I and II. He has also been instrumental in revitalizing Campbell’s Bible Lands Study tours to Israel for which he serves as a lead guide and teacher.

He was the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Theology from Campbell University in 2005. Cartledge frequently serves the local church in the areas of interim pastor and pulpit supply speaker.
