Buies Creek, N.C.—As Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Wholesale Drug Company, David S. Moody, Jr., is an advocate for community pharmacy and health care issues. Moody will be the keynote speaker at the hooding ceremony for Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Friday, May 14, at 3 p.m. in the Gore Arena of the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center.
Mutual Wholesale Drug Company dedicates itself to helping independent drug marketers compete against the larger chains by reinforcing entrepreneurial strengths and cooperative association. As CEO, Moody has been involved in lobbying efforts in the state and federal legislature on behalf of Mutual Drug members.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Moody spent 20 years in the retail drug business before selling his store, Crabtree Pharmacy, and establishing a career at Mutual Drug. He began by working with the generics program, Carolina Allied Pharmaceutical Services, to provide drugs to independent pharmacies and their customers at reasonable cost. He became CEO of the Mutual Drug Company in 2000.
Moody is also an advocate for Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, serving in numerous capacities within the program including the Dean’s Advisory Board, the Pharmacy Advancement Advisory Council and the Curriculum Committee. Campbell has also relied on his knowledge and experience in development efforts.
Additionally, Moody volunteers on the board of directors for the Association of Community Pharmacists, the Healthcare Distribution Management Association, Pharmacy First and Pharmacy Providers of the Southeast, LLC. He also serves as an advisor to Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Community Care Rx., the Medical University of South Carolina and The University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, among others. As an active preceptor for Campbell’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Appalachian College of Pharmacy and the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Moody is a vital leader in pharmacy education.
