The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ has honored two 2016 pharmacy preceptors of the year: Mrs. Rebecca Chater and Dr. Brian Jenkins.
The awards were presented by Paige Brown, PharmD, CPHS clinical assistant professor and director of experiential education, during the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists’ convention.
Rebecca Chater
Mrs. Chater is the executive health care strategist at ATEB in Raleigh, N.C. She has precepted elective rotations for CPHS pharmacy students for several years and always has great evaluations.
Students have described her rotation as “very real world” and have noted that she encourages them to explore various career paths while providing a rotation that adds value both personally and professionally. Mrs. Chater goes above and beyond for her students on rotation and provides them with connections across the state. One student said, “She has truly motivated me to dream big.”
Brian Jenkins, PharmD ’92
Dr. Jenkins is a CPHS alumni and the assistant director of pharmacy at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, N.C. He provides intro and advanced rotations to CPHS students.
His rotation has been described as providing a holistic approach to healthcare with an integral system for inter-departmental collaboration that leads to numerous learning opportunities within a hospital setting.
Students describe Dr. Jenkins as a great preceptor who truly cares about them learning something new each day. His ability to explain and simplify rationale for clinical decisions is outstanding. One student stated, “He is the most perceptive mentor with whom I have the pleasure to work. His personality and humor give the entire staff a positive mindset and attitude throughout the day.”
