Tickets are now on sale for the Campus Activities Board’s annual Spring Concert headlined by chart-topping country artist Chase Rice. The concert is set for April 26 at the Pope Convocation Center.
Rice, whose 2014 album Ignite the Night debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, grew up in Asheville and was a linebacker for the UNC-Chapel Hill football team. Before his music career took off, he worked in the pit crew for Hendrick Motorsports and worked on the Sprint Cup Series car for Jimmie Johnson, winning two championships with the Lowes team as part of that crew. He was also a contestant on Survivor: Nicaragua in 2010, finishing as the runner-up.
In 2012, he co-wrote the Florida Georgia Line hit, Cruise, before releasing his first six-song EP the following year, Ready Set Roll, which peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes country album chart.
In October 2013, he released Ready Set Roll, a 6-song EP including the title track. Ready Set Roll peaked at #1 on the iTunes Country album chart. His next album is reportedly due this summer.
