Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and the Campbell Law School have announced the establishment of a new dual degree program. The four-year program, which will begin with the fall 2012 semester, allows students to pursue and obtain a Juris Doctor at Campbell Law, as well as a Master of Science in Public Health from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
“We are excited to announce our partnership with Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences,” said Campbell Law Interim Dean Keith Faulkner. “The JD/MSPH is a powerful degree that will provide our students with an understanding of the intersections between law, health policy, and public health. JD/MSPH students will study topics including community health, health system reform, and policy research. This program will be a great compliment for those students seeking a traditional legal job in health law and will provide an alternative career path for those seeking careers in the health care policy and non-profit arenas.”
The JD/MSPH program provides students with a unique interdisciplinary perspective of law and public policy. Graduates will enter the workplace prepared to represent clients, health organizations or systems, and serve in leadership roles in health policy at the national, state, county and local levels. Prospective students are required to gain admission to both programs in order to pursue the dual degree.
“This specialized focus will give law students an in-depth perspective on health care and prepare them for advanced careers in health law and policy throughout North Carolina and beyond,” said College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Dean Ron Maddox, PharmD.
The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences offers two additional dual degrees with the new public health program. In an effort to train future clinicians to contribute as policy makers in health care systems, the College has created a Doctor of Pharmacy/MSPH dual degree and a Master of Physician Assistant Practice/MSPH dual degree. Additionally, the College offers a Doctor of Pharmacy/MBA with Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, a Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Science in Clinical Research and a Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
