The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences at Campbell University celebrates health education and the progression of pharmacy and health sciences every month, but October tends to bring out the best in students since it is American Pharmacists Month.
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) created the month long recognition along with the Know Your Pharmacist, Know Your Medicine campaign to bring awareness to how important it is for patients to communicate with their pharmacists and know their medications.
This month, student pharmacists at Campbell have celebrated American Pharmacists Month with:
- Cardiac 5K and Health Fair
- Bake Sale to raise funds for the APhA Foundation
- Guest lecture featuring speakers from the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP)
- Flu immunizations at the North Carolina State Fair
- On-campus tour of the North Carolina State Medical Assistance Team (SMAT) Mobile Pharmacy Unit (MPU) with Steve Harrison from the Capital Regional Advisory Committee (CapRAC)
- Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) Health Fair on campus
In addition to the numerous American Pharmacists Month activities, the Campbell University APhA-ASP chapter received news that it won the Region 3 Operation Diabetes Award for the July 2014-2015 reporting period.
