Derek Hogan named Campbell Divinity Assistant Dean

BUIES CREEK — Dr. Derek K. Hogan has been named Assistant Dean for Academic Programs and Assistant Professor of New Testament for the Campbell University Divinity School, effective Aug. 15. Hogan has served as Theological Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor of New Testament at Campbell Divinity School since 2002. Dr. Barry Jones, who has served as Associate Dean for Graduate Programs since 2005, is returning to full-time duties as Associate Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew.“We are so pleased that Dr. Hogan has accepted this position,” said Dr. Andy Wakefield, Dean of the Divinity School. “He has been a vital member of the Divinity School from the moment he arrived, providing superb guidance and instruction for students, wisdom and insight to faculty, and a gentle, Christ-like spirit in everything he does. He will excel in his service as the assistant dean.”Hogan, a native of Lineville, Ala., graduated from Baylor University with a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies; from Duke Divinity School with a Master of Theological Studies (Magna Cum Laude) with a concentration in Biblical Studies; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Religion from Samford University. He is currently a member of the American Theological Library Association, the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion, and the Society of Biblical Literature. He serves on the editorial board of the Review and Expositor.Hogan is married to the former Stacie Young. They are members of Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek.
