BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell Business Associate Dean for External Relations Dr. Shahriar Mostashari and a handful of alumni took part in a community service project in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, June 20th. Dr. Mostashari, along with Campbell Business alumni Shahgol Mostashari (‘97) and Jonathan Lee (‘00) joined forces with Campbell University Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement Jonathan Bridges (‘12, ‘14), who coordinated the event, and three other university alumni for a day of service and fellowship at Christ House.

Christ House Director of Volunteers Rev. David Long (‘69) instructed the group on a tour of their two nearby facilities and briefly explained the organization’s mission. Later Long, alongside wife Sue who manages the organization’s clothing program, led the Campbell delegation on performing indoor cleaning and outdoor yard work and landscaping. Having finished their chores, the group was invited to meet and chat with the house residents at lunch and get to know the kitchen staff.

“What an amazing experience to watch up-close-and-personal the work of Christ House’s dedicated staff and volunteers doing God’s work,” said Mostashari.

Christ House is a health recovery facility for homeless persons offering a 34-bed clinic with 24-hour medical staff on duty. Patients come from hospitals, a mobile medical unit or various clinics in the District, recommended as needing a safe place to recover from an acute illness. In addition, Christ House offers 52 apartments for former patients with chronic illnesses requiring long-term care to live in community in the Kairos Program. Unity Health Care maintains a walk-in clinic for homeless persons to see medical staff, a case management counselor, and a shower program with a clothing closet.
