BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Recently elected North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has appointed Campbell Business adjunct faculty member Dr. Michelle Osborne as chief deputy commissioner. In her role she will work directly with the commissioner in service as a policy advisor. Osborne has taught six classes at Campbell Business, including Principles of Marketing, Financial Planning, Strategic Management, International Management, Professional Selling & Sales Management and Business Ethics.
“Currently, I have the honor of serving in a dual leadership role,” said Osborne. “It is an honor to serve Campbell University and its students as a professor, teaching future business leaders and executives. It is a dream come true, one for which I worked very hard to attain. It is also an honor to serve the citizens and communities across our state as chief deputy commissioner of the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Leadership is always an honor, but it is never easy. Taking the focus off oneself and putting it on the ones served, however, makes the role much more rewarding.”
Osborne’s educational background includes a MBA from Campbell University and Doctorate of Business Administration from George Fox University. She has worked in the insurance industry since 1990, starting two insurance agencies from scratch, Allstate and an independent Erie Insurance agency. She worked the latter 16 years of that time as a district sales manager for a Fortune 500 company. Her responsibilities included recruiting, managing and training insurance agents throughout North Carolina.
