Dr. Yunbo Li Receives Faculty Award for Research Excellence

Dr. Yunbo Li joined the Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine as Assistant Dean for Biomedical Research and Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology on January 1, 2013.
In addition to an MD earned at Shandong Medical University in China, Dr. Li has an earned PhD in Toxicology/Pharmacology from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow.  He additionally holds a Master of Toxicology and Occupational Medicine (MS/MPH) degree from the Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, Jinan, Shandong, China.
Dr. Li was instrumental in developing the research program at CUSOM.  He redesigned Bryan Hall creating a research facility for CUSOM faculty and students.  He has a distinguished academic and research career prior to joining our university, and he is continuing a high level of productivity at Campbell.
Since joining CUSOM, Dr. Li was Principal Investigator on the first collaborative grant from the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health (NCI/NIH) received by the medical school on September 1, 2014 for research regarding Cruciferous Dithiolethiones for Chronic Heart Failure.  Most recently, Dr. Li was notified that his EMXplus EPR Free Radical Research Facility proposal will be funded in full ($200,000) by the North Carolina Biotech Center. The EMXplus Electron Paramagnetic Resonance system to be purchased will be used to investigate the oxidative/inflammatory stress mechanisms of human disease process.
Additionally, Dr. Li has served on several editorial boards, been published in eighteen peer reviewed journals, had several monographs and book chapters published since joining CUSOM.
Dr. Li’s record of research accomplishments and leadership makes him an excellent recipient of the 2015 Faculty Award for Research Excellence with Campbell University.  Dr. Terri Hamrick, Assistant Dean of Scholarly Affairs and Dr. Igor Danelisen, Assistant Dean for Faculty presented the award to Dr. Li at the Senior & Faculty Awards Banquet held Wednesday, April 22, in Gore Arena at Campbell University.
