Buies Creek, N.C.—Dutch political scientist Rob Verhofstad, manager of the International office and political science lecturer at Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University in the Netherlands, will deliver the annual Pi Gamma Mu/Phi Kappa Phi Lecture at Lynch Auditorium of the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The lecture is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Specializing in internationalization, Political Science, American Foreign Policy, Cold War history and Dutch politics and history, Verhofstad will focus on the harmonization of higher education in Europe. Since the early 1990s there has been an effort on the part of European countries to increase the compatibility and comparability of European higher education systems and promote closer cooperation in the area of higher education in Europe. The objective is to develop a common European Higher Education Area by 2010. This includes reorganizing study course structures, the recognition of degrees and the flexibility of students to move between European universities.
Verhofstad has also worked with a government administration agency since 1994 and served as director of the Education Center for the Nijmegen School of Management from 200-2004.
