Ed and Dinah Gore honored at Campbell

Real estate entrepreneurs Edward M. and Dinah Gore, of Sunset Beach, N.C., were honored Monday, May 14, at Campbell University’s 121st graduation exercises.Both Edward and Dinah were given the Honorary Doctor of Laws for their distinguished professional accomplishments and outstanding civic contributions.”True examples of Christian stewardship are rare,” said Dr. Jerry M. Wallace, president of Campbell University. “Edward and Dinah Gore are true stewards of the resources they have generously been given.”A 1952 graduate of Campbell College, Edward M. Gore, Sr., enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving a four-year tour of duty. He continued his education at East Carolina University, earning a degree in business in 1958. After marrying Dinah Eubanks in 1959, the Gores joined Ed’s father Mannon C. Gore, founder of Sunset Beach and Twin Lakes, Inc., to become second-generation developers of the Sunset Beach area. Upon his father’s retirement in 1972, Ed and Dinah Gore became the owners of the real estate enterprises and went on to co-develop Sea Trail Resort and Conference Center and become sole developers of Ocean Ridge Plantation, a 2,000-acre planned development.A native of Duplin County, Dinah Eubanks Gore was an employee of Commercial National Bank until her marriage to Edward. She serves as corporation secretary in the coastal real estate development business the couple share. An active church woman and civic leader, Dinah serves as a teller, greeter and prayer chain coordinator at their church, Calvary Baptist of Shallotte.Edward Gore currently serves as a member of the Campbell University Board of Trustees and as chairman of the Campbell University Foundation, an organization dedicated to securing and managing private philanthropic support for the university. He has served as a member of the Sunset Beach Town Council for three decades and maintains active memberships in the Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary clubs. In 2004, Gore was named South Brunswick Citizen of the Year and the Gores were the recipients of the 2005 Baptist State Convention’s Baptist Heritage Award.Generous supporters of Campbell University, the Gores’ contributions to the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center have helped make the project a reality. The Convocation Center Arena will be named in memory of their son Gilbert Craig Gore and the University Chapel’s Bell Tower and Prayer Room in honor of the Gore family.The Gores are the parents of three sons Gregory, Edward and the late Gilbert Craig.
