Employee giving campaign hits record 89% participation

BUIES CREEK – Campbell University employees are giving back at an unprecedented rate.

The University announced this week that 89 percent of its faculty and staff donated to the school’s annual fund this past school year. The number topped the previous record of 83 percent set the prior year. Campbell’s Employee Giving Campaign began in 2006 and has come a long way since 61 percent gave back in 2008.

“This University’s employees rose to the challenge this year,” said Peggy Mason, director of the Annual Fund. “It was fantastic to see us working together on a common goal … this will definitely have a positive impact on various grant applications submitted by Campbell.”

Each year, employees have the choice to support any area of the campus that has a gift account associated with it or support any various endowed scholarships. In the past, the Employee Giving Campaign has focused on specific areas of support, such as the Convocation Center, University Chapel, the football stadium or the newly renovated track.

Campbell University Vice President for Advancement Britt Davis said he was “overwhelmed” by the support of the school’s faculty and staff this year.

“Nearly nine of every 10 individuals who work at Campbell gave back financially,” Davis said. “It’s a wonderful testimony about the quality of Campbell and the loyalty of our team.”

Among those who donated, several faculty and staff members were chosen randomly to receive prizes for their generosity. The 2011-2012 prize winners were:
