For the second consecutive year, Campbell University’s School of Engineering will send a group of young women to the Society of Women Engineers Conference (to be held this year in Chicago) thanks to a generous donation.
The Terracon Foundation — the philanthropic arm of national engineering consulting firm Terracon Consultants — gifted the school $3,000 to send six students to WE24, the world’s largest conference for women in engineering and technology. The three-day event in October offers opportunities to engage in networking, gain career insights and connect with industry leaders on innovation.
The check was presented on Sept. 9 by Carl Bonner, an office manager and principal for Terracon’s Winterville facility in Greenville and father of junior engineering major Dantzler Bonner. Campbell Society of Women Engineers (SWE) officers Savannah Bell, Celia Clark, Sarah Cribb and Sarah Fitzkee were on hand to accept the check.
Students who will attend this year’s conference are Bonner, Cribb, Fitzkee, Carson Daly, Luke Pruitt and Angela Steen.
“We are so grateful to Terracon Foundation and Carl Bonner for their continued support of our SWE students,” said School of Engineering Founding Dean Dr. Jenna Carpenter.
“The annual conference includes fantastic professional development opportunities for our students, as well as a career fair with approximately 500 companies from around the country. Because our students are industry-ready, we always have multiple students who land internships and full-time jobs at the event.”
