BUIES CREEK – The work of four Campbell University studio art majors will be on display in the lobby of the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Building through May 15.
Jennifer Blankenship, James Smith III, Maggie Hopf and Kelvonto Cooper will be featured in the E.P. Sauls Gallery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Admission is free and open to all.
The gallery is allowing Hopf, a native of Greenville, to share the story of her four years at Campbell through her art, she said.
“It reflects on what I have learned through school and life,” she said. “Over the past four years, I have bene very blessed to travel and experience many places, people and cultures … all of which have inspired me and shaped my work.”
Her “stories of a traveler” are depicted through acrylics, ink, photographer and watercolor.
Oil paint is the preferred medium of Cooper, a native of Edenton, who said each professor and each class at Campbell helped guide him toward a future as an artist.
“I found Campbell by chance, but I have enjoyed it greatly,” he said. “I have been able to grow as an artist and as an individual through the help and guidance of three great art professors.”
After graduation, Cooper said he plans to obtain a master’s degree in architecture from UNC Charlotte.
