Exhibit showcases Studio Art students

Buies Creek, N.C.—Representing a broad range of artistic styles and media, the Studio Art Exhibit, now on display at Campbell University’s E.P. Sauls Gallery, showcases the work of approximately 35 students. On display through March 24, the exhibit is free and open to the public.

From realism to abstractions, expressionism to contemporary, the Studio Art exhibit is an eclectic collectionof student work, according to Professor Larkin Tysor, chair of the Art Department.

“No particular theme and no particular style or media emerges as being dominant,” Tysor said. “The works are rendered in everything from paper and pencil, to charcoal, water colors, oils and acrylics.”

The works are as varied in composition as they are in media and style, Tysor added. An abstract collage rests near an almost photographic painting of a building, a rustic rendering of a basket of apples hangs near a detailed portrait.

Each Studio Art student is required to display pieces in the annual exhibition.

“If you want to be an artist, you must be able to show your work,” said Tysor.

Located in the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Center, the E.P. Sauls Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
