BUIES CREEK – One of the highlights of Campbell University’s annual Family Weekend is the presentation of “Family of the Year.”
At halftime of this Saturday’s home football game against conference rival Jacksonville, that honor will go to the Price family — Scott and Laurie, their two daughters Lindsey and Julie (both currently students at Campbell) and Eric, the youngest. Given by the Office of Student Life, the Family of the Year Award honors one special family whose contribution to the education of their student or students has been extraordinary.
The family is chosen based on essays written by current students. The winning essay was penned by Lindsey Price, a junior in Campbell’s Teaching Fellows program.
“My family is of utmost importance to me and I have no doubt that they are the reason I am at Campbell today,” she wrote. “As a family we laugh together, cry together and pray together, all of which made me the woman I am today and make them the perfect nomination for this year’s Campbell family.”
For her essay, Lindsey Price will receive a book scholarship for the spring semester and tickets to all athletic events during Family Weekend. Her family will be recognized at Saturday’s 1 p.m. football game at Barker-Lane Stadium and will participate in the Homecoming parade on Oct. 30.
