Lewis M. Fetterman, Sr., of Clinton, N.C., has been elected to the Campbell University Board of Trustees. Fetterman is the chairman of Super Soil Systems USA and member of the board of directors of the Lundy Packing Company, a subsidiary of Premium Standard Farms since 2000.
A native of Elizabethtown, Pa., Fetterman served an apprenticeship at American Car & Foundry before enlisting in the armed Forces during World War II. He saw combat in the invasion of Okinawa and was honorably discharged after the war. After marrying Annabelle Lundy, Fetterman relocated to North Carolina to open a meat packing company with Annabelle’s father Burroughs T. Lundy. Fetterman served as president and general manager of the Lundy Packing Company from 1980-1987.
He is active in the Masons, the United States Camellia Society and the Boy Scouts of America (Tuscarora Council). Fetterman is also a member of the Clinton Rotary Club and past chairman of the board of directors of Sampson Community College.
A longtime friend and benefactor of Campbell University, Fetterman was honored with Campbell’s Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in 1980 and an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 1987. He is a member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
The Fettermans are the parents of two children, Mabel Held and the late Dr. Lewis Fetterman, Jr., a member of the faculty of Campbell’s School of Pharmacy until his untimely death earlier this year.
