Finance professor James Harriss wins award for best paper at research conference

BUIES CREEK — Campbell University Lundy-Fetterman School of Business finance professor James D. Harriss recently received the best Paper Award during the Fall 2014 Academy of Business Research annual conference. Dr. Harriss’ paper, “Getting the Gift Tax Out of the Death Tax – or No Section 2035(b) Inclusion,” beat out 87 other article submissions for the honor.

“We are immensely proud of the good work done by Dr. Harriss, and we are pleased to see him get the recognition that he so rightfully deserves,” said Campbell Business Dean Keith Faulkner. “Dr. Harriss’ achievement shows that our professors are leaders in their fields, and they remain engaged with the professional business community.”

The Academy of Business Research is an international society of scholars and practitioners who exchange ideas and collaborate in a conference setting. In the last decade, the Academy has had participants from all 50 states and 49 different countries. At its last conference, there were participants in virtual sessions from Malaysia, the Netherlands and various parts of the United States.
