Five CU students present at Political Science Conference

Five undergraduate students and two faculty members from Campbell University’s Department of Government, History and Criminal Justice participated in the 39th Annual Conference of the North Carolina Political Science Association (NCPSA), held at North Carolina Central University, Durham N.C., on Feb. 26, 2010.

“Campbell University was well represented by these five students and their exceptional papers,” said Dr. John Mero, assistant professor of Criminal Justice. “The students gave thoughtful presentations and engaged in a lively discussion with members of the panel’s audience. This is really what the NCPSA conference is all about-fostering student development in and encouraging an enthusiasm for the field of Political Science.”

Brian Barnes, Amy Crout, Katie Epley, Hank Raper and Robert Schupp, who are all Government majors, presented papers. Brian Barnes presented on the “Public Administration” panel, chaired by Dr. David Swindell (UNC Charlotte). Amy Crout, Katie Epley, Hank Raper, and Robert Schupp presented on the “Undergraduate” panel, Chaired by Dr. Katy Harriger (Wake Forest University). The panel’s discussant was Dr. Adam Chamberlain (UNC Chapel Hill).

Dr. David Thornton participated as the chair on the “State Politics” panel and Dr. Mero chaired the “Public Policy” panel.
